Meter Technician, Lucedale Office

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides service to members by troubleshooting problem meters and programing meters as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Eligible applicants must currently live within the service area of the assigned district office or be willing to relocate within a 45-minute commute from the assigned district office.
• Must be classified as a Journeyman Lineman by the cooperative.
• Must have the ability to learn and demonstrate on the job training.
• Must successfully pass Journeyman Meter Technician tests within 12-15 months.
• Must be willing to attend off-site training, as required.
• Must have a valid medical card and Commercial Driver's License.
• Must have climbing certification, CPR, pole top rescue and forklift certification.
• Must have a knowledge of Cooperative's safety rules and regulations.
• Must have a knowledge of RUS specifications and National Electric Safety Codes.
• Must have a knowledge of working on energized and de-energized power lines.
• Must have a knowledge of Cooperative's job briefing techniques.
• Must have a knowledge of CPR and first aid techniques and pole top and bucket truck rescue techniques.
• Must have the ability to operate various trucks and equipment.
• Must have the ability to utilize job related electronic devices that are provided by the cooperative.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Completes daily tickets that are assigned and troubleshoots problem meters as needed.
• Installs instrument rated metering equipment under the supervision of a Journeyman Meter Technician or Metering Field Supervisor.
• Works with energized primary voltages and make routine connections as it pertains to metering using any necessary equipment under supervision of a Journeyman Meter Technician or Metering Field Supervisor.
• Identifies three-phase banks and carefully troubleshoots each three-phase connection knowing voltage.
• Performs programing of meters and shop duties.
• Tests any type of meter in the shop as well as in the field when needed.
• Must be willing to learn metering installations, including programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Responds to questions from members, businesses, vendors, etc.
• Maintains meter shop, equipment and vehicle.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
