Mechanic II, Gautier Office

POSITION SUMMARY: Ensures all vehicles, trucks and equipment operate efficiently and safely.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Makes minor repairs to vehicles and equipment such as brakes, hoses, changes batteries, alternators, tires, tune-ups, minor welding and burning, packing wheel bearings, etc.

Repairs hydraulic leaks and hoses, changes control valves and handles, repair or replaces hydraulic cylinders and hoses.

Travels to service area to make needed repairs on vehicles and equipment.

Makes routine visual checks of trucks and equipment and periodically tests drive vehicles. Repairs any defects found or reported.

Certifies Singing River vehicles in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier and Mississippi Safety Inspection Law.

Maintains inventory of parts and supplies by computer and related paperwork necessary for the maintenance of vehicles.

Enters data on computer for items purchased and performs related paperwork to record servicing of vehicles.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Job Specific Requirements:

A High School diploma or its equivalence.

Must have forklift certification.

Diesel training and certifications are preferred.

Must have three to four years' prior experience.

Must maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License, required for operating Singing River's vehicles and equipment.

Must have a knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, and engines.

Must have the ability to operate the Cooperative's fleet of various equipment and vehicles.
