Fiber Operations Coordinator, Lucedale Office

Position Summary: Coordinate and lead the day-to-day fiber operations, including installation, relocations, and repairs by SRE and contract labor ranging from data center connections to in-home installations.

Job Overview:

Coordinate, oversee, and inspect fiber construction processes involving installation, relocations, and repairs by SRE and contract labor ranging from data center connections to in-home installations.

Inspect new and existing facilities for hazards and violations and coordinate corrections through engineering and construction to provide safety for the public and employees.

Understand, manage, and enforce construction contract requirements including invoice reconciliation with construction drawings and invoice approval.

Respond to and coordinate correction of damages, safety hazards, and outages at all times of the day.

Works with external contractor to coordinate splicing operations with internal Fiber Technician to distribute work to both internal and external resources for efficient production of quality spicing.

Assists as directed in coordinating highway and railroad permits, with controlling authorities, and property easements, with owners, as needed for fiber optic operations.

Job Requirements:

5-7 years of experience serving in a supervisory role in fiber operations or electrical distribution, required.

Must display a general understanding of fiber splicing diagrams and construction drawings.

Must demonstrate a working knowledge in electric distribution design and construction, including poles, devices, equipment, and ability to change pole design or framing to suit fiber installation.

Must display an understanding of construction work order processes and ability to read work orders.

Must display knowledge of OSHA electrical safety standards and PPE requirements as well as an understanding of RUS electric assembly units.

Thorough understanding of NESC standards and clearances.

Knowledge of utility attachments, ROW permitting, construction and quality control.

Ability to read and navigate with electronic maps and GPS

Knowledge of commonly used co-op staking software packages, preferred.

Must demonstrate excelled problem solving and comprehension skills.

Must display the ability to assume responsibility and exercise sound judgement.

Must be able to work independently without supervision.

Adapts well and positively to change while leading others to do the same.
