POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for supervising the diversified work related to the new construction and maintenance of aerial and underground fiber networks to create efficient service


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all supervisory functions for fiber linemen.

Safely and responsibly perform diversified work related to the new construction and maintenance of aerial and underground fiber networks.

Effectively supervises, delegates and develops fiber construction crew through proper training and communication.

Updates and maintains project tracking information such as construction sheets, time sheets and customer required paperwork.

Provides the needed services for the construction, operation, and maintenance of Fiber infrastructure.

Performs and supervises with an understanding of basic and/or advanced Fiber Installation principles and techniques.

Displays proficiency with all phases of Fiber line construction.

Promotes safe working habits and use of protective equipment by crew. Ensures that the safest method of completing assigned jobs is identified and implemented as well as effectively communicated to employees.

Keep abreast of all changes affecting any records, reports, and related information affecting this position.

Review and interpret underground and aerial cable records in existing records, on maps or in the field.

Interpret materials list based on plans/scope of work, and compile materials for crew in advance of deployment.

Make precise recommendations to Fiber Operations Management for changes in running fiber optic cables or provide input into construction methodologies.

Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc.; as well as following procedures as outlined for Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals).


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Eligible applicants must currently live within the service area of the assigned district office or be willing to relocate within a 45-minute commute from the assigned district office.

A High School diploma or its equivalent.

Must have 3+ years in supervising fiber constructions projects.

Excellent problem-solving skills.

Reads and interprets construction prints, plans and specifications.

Must have adequate time management skills.

Must display the ability to judge distance and space relationships.

Must have or be willing to obtain a Commercial Drivers License.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, after hours work which would include nights and weekends.

Must possess and demonstrate a working knowledge of installation, maintenance, and removal of fiber optic cable.

Must maintain a working and efficient knowledge of NESC.

Must possess an understanding of the technologies and standards as they apply to the installation of fiber optic networks as well as EIA/TIA 568A/B standards and color codes.
