Facilities Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Cooperative's buildings and grounds for optimal efficiency, employee safety, positive public image and compliance with applicable laws and Singing River Electric Cooperative Policy.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or its equivalent.

Three years of facilities/building maintenance experience, required.

Must display a working knowledge of OSHA, ADA, NEC, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, state, and local building codes, fire codes.

Must maintain a proficient knowledge of the cooperative's insurance carrier, Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange, and its guidelines and standards.

Must possess the knowledge and experience in completing minor repairs to maintenance facility operations equipment and systems.

Ability to operate basic hand and power tools needed for routine, non-licensed maintenance work.

Self-motivation, effective communication, organization, planning, and leadership skills are required.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Develop and maintain a functional understanding of all essential building systems to assure systems are operating correctly and efficiently. Systems include, but are not limited to, electrical, mechanical, security, fire control, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning (HVAC).

Ensure 24/7 response to maintenance emergencies including responding to facilities and equipment alarms and system failures.

Conduct safety and building inspections including system testing of fire and panic systems.

Assist in identifying and resolving facility compliance issues relating to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), fire codes, building codes, and compliance with related federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Assist in planning and coordinating facilities improvement projects.

Supervise as directed, construction and renovation, communicate with engineers, architects, construction personnel, and/or vendors to ensure construction is executed as planned.

Complete minor repairs and maintenance including touch up painting; repairs to permanent and temporary walls, molding, and ceilings; inside and outside bulb replacement; plumbing system repairs including sinks, floor drains, toilets, and outside spigots, door maintenance, pressure washer area, office accessory maintenance, gate maintenance, a/c filters, and minor concrete repairs.
