Construction Foreman I, Sand Hill Office

POSITION SUMMARY: Demonstrates technical skills needed in the construction and maintenance of electric service for both overhead and underground. Provides assistance and makes recommendations to the Construction Foreman II pertaining to jobs, safety and equipment. Performs all supervisory functions for the Apprentice Lineman I-III, Lineman, and Journeyman Lineman. Ensures the safety and wellbeing of all employees supervised.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Eligible applicants must currently live within the service area of the assigned district office or be willing to relocate within a 45-minute commute from the assigned district office.
• Must have a certificate from MGCCC's Apprentice Lineman school, or another comparable program.
• Must have five to seven years' prior lineman experience.
• Must have a valid medical card and Commercial Driver's License.
• Must have climbing certification, CPR, pole top rescue and forklift certification.
• Must have a knowledge of Cooperative's safety rules and regulations.
• Must have a knowledge of RUS specifications and National Electric Safety Codes.
• Must have a knowledge of working on energized and de-energized power lines.
• Must have a knowledge of Cooperative's job briefing techniques.
• Must have a knowledge of CPR and first aid techniques and pole top and bucket truck rescue techniques.
• Must have good supervisory skills.
• Must have the ability to utilize a hot stick on an energized or de-energized line.
• Must have the ability to operate a bucket truck and various other equipment as well as a forklift.

JOB OVERVIEW:

• Performs all supervisory functions, trains, and evaluates employees assigned in proper methods and techniques of line construction, operation, and system maintenance.
• Completes objective performance reviews in a timely manner and makes recommendations to determine advancement potential for employees.
• Operates and maintains bucket truck.
• Carries out duties of a Journeyman Lineman, as needed.
• Installs cover-up prior to hot line work and identifies any other PPE that may be needed to safely complete assigned work.
• Supervises construction of lines both energized and de-energized, overhead and/or underground.
• Ensures assigned jobs are built to RUS and NESC specifications and certifies that quality workmanship is followed.
