Central Office Technician
Position Summary: Responsible for the uptime and reliability of the delivery equipment associated with Singing River Connects service offerings. Applies technical expertise to a variety of situations by evaluating problems and implementing best solutions.
Position Requirements:
- 3 years' experience in telecommunications construction, customer premise device installation, network access equipment installation, required.
- Experience in network troubleshooting, preferred.
- Must display a safe working knowledge of the construction practices required for fiber optic service drop installations on existing electric poles and across developed properties.
- Understanding of the technologies and standards as they apply to the installation of fiber optic and VoIP networks.
- Working knowledge of rectifiers and battery systems associated with Central Office equipment.
- Familiarity with fiber optic construction units, and building construction is preferred.
Job Overview:
- Respond to large scale outages. Must be able to determine if an outage originated in a fiber hut.
- Install, maintain, and remove equipment inside the hut.
- Monitor efficiency of network equipment located at each office.
- Maintain quarterly software updates on all equipment ranging from the subscriber premise software, fiber huts, and network equipment at all offices.
- Work with technical support to resolve issues of provisioning new equipment.
- Reset and troubleshoot equipment from the field in a timely and efficient manner, submit warranty claims on faulty equipment.
